Dr. Pushpa Agrawal & Dr. Rahul Kore, V. M. Government Medical College, Solapur and Dr Hetal Vadera from Rajkot have designed Intubation Boxes made up of transparent acrylic material to decrease the contact with aerosols during intubation & extubation.
It is an add on to the PPE and not a substitute to the PPE in suspected / confirmed COVID 19 patients. The use of intubation box does not undermine the technique of using clear plastic drape over the patient with negative suction tube applied under the drapes. The plastic drape remains on the patient during intubation, surgery, extubation and transport back to the isolation ward /ICU.
We, The Anaesthesiologists should keep on serving the nation by providing Peri-Covid Care in COVID 19 Pandemic, including airway management, critical acre, HDU, isolation ward and screening
